The offices of Oncology Associates are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, except during standard holidays. During business hours you can reach any of our locations, any of our physicians, by calling 402-354-5860 or 1-866-352-2228. All messages will be answered the same business day they are received. If you are leaving a message after 4:00 pm please note the message will be returned the next business day. Please understand that calls for test results and prescription refills will be returned after urgent patient needs are met. Non-emergency phone calls may be returned late in the afternoon after all patients are seen or the following day. Please do not leave a message if you have an emergency. If the matter is urgent, please tell our front office support staff so that your nurse can confer with you in the timeliest manner possible.
After Hour Care
A physician is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached through our main number. The physician will return your call within 20 minutes. If your call is not returned within that time, please call the main number again and the answering service will try to reach the physician for you. (Please note that in certain locations physicians’ pagers do not work properly and it may take a second call to reach them.)
Call anytime, day or night if you experience:
Fever 100.5 F. degrees or greater
Uncontrollable nausea or diarrhea
Pain medication is not working
Chest pains or shortness of breath
Severe shaking or chills
Bleeding from the nose or gums
Blood in the urine
Black, tarry bowel movement
Constipation with intense abdominal cramping
Changes in your vision or hearing
All medical records and other information related to your diagnosis, condition and treatment are confidential. Release of medical information is done in accordance with federal and state law. In the interest of protecting your privacy, we will not leave messages on the answering machine about your test results.
Release of Records:
Patient medical information is released only in accordance with federal and state law and according to proper procedures for the release of medical information. All records are owned by the physician providing the medical care. You have the right to copies of the record upon written request. Original records are never released. You are the only one with the authority to release your records; unless you have given power of attorney to another individual (a copy of the legal power of attorney must be provided). During the initial visit, you will be asked to sign a release stating that we may provide copies of your records to your insurance carrier for processing of claims and to other health care providers who will assist in your care. For your convenience, you may fill out and print a Release of Your Medical Information Disclosure Notice before you visit our office.
At your first visit you will be asked to provide us with your insurance coverage information as well as having your card present for us to make a copy. It is your obligation to inform us of any changes in your insurance information. We understand the increasing complexity of insurance requirements and claim procedures. As a courtesy we will submit the bills to your insurance company. If your insurance carrier requires a co-payment, you are required to pay at the time of the visit.
We are happy to refill the medications we originally prescribed or are monitoring. If you need a prescription refilled, please contact your pharmacy. Please allow 24 hours for the pharmacy to contact your physician and get approval for the refill. For narcotics such as Percocet, MS Contin, Oxycontin or Dilaudid, plan to either come to the office for a written prescription or allow 5 days for the written prescription to be mailed. By law, your pharmacy must have a written prescription. No narcotic prescriptions may be written on the weekends or holidays.
